D.I.Y Friday~ Paper Flower Pomanders

>> Friday, September 26, 2008

How cute are these? I was surfing one of my favorite blogs (why have I not added them to my blog roll?) ...Once Wed and I came across these oh-so-cute pomanders. A pomander or sometimes refered to as a Kissing Ball is a round ball completely covered by flower blooms, in this case paper flower blooms. Flower girls carry them in the bridal procession or they are often used as wedding decorations. I fell in love with them because they are a clean and fairly inexpensive add to the wedding.

Economic Crunch~Scary Stuff

>> Thursday, September 25, 2008

So every morning I wake up to CNN giving more bad news about our failing ecomony. Eeek! I'm really starting to panic a little. I get so scared for my girls and think what if this problem can't be fixed! I have heard reports about this becoming the next Great Depression and I just can't fathom going through something like that with my family. Even scarier it makes me think twice about what I spend as far as my wedding and asking myself "was that neccessary?" I know the news outlets exaggerate the situtaiton, but I still find it to be scary. I hope the $700B bailout works, as it will cost each of us $10,000 to pay back!

This is a new segment I thought I would try. I love making things and plan on making as much as I can for my wedding. I found these really cute favor boxes on the blog of a very talented and awesome children's designer/fabric designer/stationary designer's (she does it all she's awesome) blog. Her name is Patty and I found her about two years ago on Ebay. She makes items for my little girlies and I read her blog daily and she produced these cute little favor boxes for her sisiters wedding and I had to share! So we have only went to visit one venue so far and we fell in love with the unique elements in this place. It's the Taubman Museum of Art, I can only post pictures of the outside because they are not open for business yet. Their Grand Opening is November 7th. I can't wait to show you the amazing amenities and exactly what we will be getting for the money! The views are spectacular and has all the best of Roanoke not too far away! I will post more after it opens for business in November.

FREAK OUT!!

>> Tuesday, September 9, 2008

OMG! I lost my ring this morning, yep I can't believe it. It all started last night when I cooked dinner and removed it to run my hand around in bowl of boneless chicken breasts. I cooked dinner, washed dishes and took a bath with my ring still in the kitchen. I went to bed and woke up this morning at about 2 a.m. to head to the ladies room. I finally noticed that my ring wasn't on my finger, EEEEK!!! So I go in search in a sleepy stupor, and found it where I left it on the counter in the kitchen. I went back to bed and got up this morning to get my daughter ready for school, I took my ring off again to put gel on her curls and I didn't want my ring to get sticky. Well we were running late and I was rushing out the door and left my ring on the bed (or at least I thought). Again I didn't notice until I got to work and my finger was bare once again! I called my fiance who didn't answer the phone because he was still sleeping. After 15 calls he sleepily answered the phone and asked what was wrong and I broke the bad news that I had lost my ring!
At this point I was somewhat calm because I said I left it on the bed. He searched and it was nowhere to be found in our bed. OK, so total anxiety is now settling in and I am shaking like a leaf on a tree. He said he would search for it and call me back. I hung up and waited all of 2 seconds and called him back. He went downstairs and it was on the kitchen counter. I must have left it there while cooking breakfast, the funny thing is I don't remember picking it up off the bed. During my lunch break and I went and purchased two ring stands, one for downstairs and one for upstairs where I will put my ring when I need to take it off!

Good Morning!

>> Tuesday, September 2, 2008

As I checked my email this morning, I came across a video from Good Morning Yahoo. It was explaining how to cut costs for your wedding. Now I am all about saving money and still have a great wedding, but I have to say that I do not agree with one detail that they mentioned. Their advice was to cut photography costs by hiring new photographers, WHAT!?!? I would feel so uneasy that day not knowing if the new photographer will know what to do in a high stress situtation such as a wedding. What if he/she has never photographed a wedding before, oh my I would just be a basketcase.

Now I'm a DIY bride and I want to cut costs for my wedding as well but my fiance and I have already set the budget to not skimp on great food & photography. I will be making my invitations, centerpieces, placecards, table numbers, menus, programs, etc. So tons of money will be saved by making these items myself but I refuse to cut whats most important to us and that's food and capturing our memories forever!
