Children and E-Pics

>> Thursday, March 12, 2009

As you know my FH and I will be taking e-pics sometime in the spring. We have been together for 10 years now and we have a cute little family which includes our two little girls. My FH and I had a discussion about whether to include our daughters in our e-pics. We think that this is kind of our time, we rarely have pictures of just us. I think that we could make it a date thing, get lunch and have our pics taken without restrictions, like if we want to have some touchy feely pics. Some people are saying that we should include the girls in our e-pics. I think that e-pcs should look like e-pics not a family portrait. I love my girls don't get me wrong but we just had family pictures taken at Christmas so I am not sure that it's necessary to have them in our e-pics. What would you do if you were in my shoes? We have made the decision not to include them in e-pics but I still want to hear your opinions.

I think I'd agree with you. Family portraits and e pics are two different things, especially if you had family photos taken recently. It's all about you two as a couple! Plus, your girls will be in a lot of your wedding photos.

I would do what you want to do. There are going to be plenty of opportunities for you and your future hubby to get pictures taken with the girls. But you're kindof right your engagement pics are about you and your future hubby being engaged. You could have your photographer do a few with the girls and have a family there to take the girls to allow you two get to get back to "alone" couple time. That may make everyone happy. Doing it both ways.

First of all, are those your beautiful daughters in the post pic? Sooo cute!!!

Second, I think you are making the right decision. These are your engagement pictures and they symbolize you and your FH getting engaged...as a couple. I think there will be plenty of opportunities to have pictures with the girls at the wedding. Also, like you said, you took Christmas family portraits and could theoretically do portraits again later after the two of you are officially married. I support your decision. Have fun on your e-pics date!!!

If those are your girls, which I am assuming they are, they are absolutely beautiful! But I agree with these other ladies, family portraits and e-portraits are two separate things. but maybe you can snag one shot at the end of all of you! :)

I love the pic you posted! Adorable. I agree with you and think you made the right decision. You said it perfectly, they're e-pics, not family portraits. Good call.

I am in the same boat, I have two kids as well. I scheduled our e-pics for when the kids would be with their Father for the same reasons you mentioned. We barely have any pics of just the 2 of us, and we took "family" pictures in November for Christmas cards. I know that we will have PLENTY of pictures taken of us as a "family" on the wedding day.

Your girls are utterly adorable! On top of that, I think you make a very valid point. Plus, I'm sure you are including the girls into parts of the wedding. Go ahead and indulge in a special day with your fiance, you both deserve it!

I too have 2 kids (boys) and we were thinking of including them in the e-pics. Then I started thinking, should we really drag our 2 year old along? I'm sure it will complicate the day with all the breaks kids need. Besides, my 2 year old has waaay to much energy and i dont want to be running after him all day breaking in sweat! He cannot sit in one place for too long, over all, i think that taking the kids with us will consist of longer breaks and smaller shooting periods. After all, you will have lots of pics with them on the wedding day so no big deal!
