Updates & Fired Bridesmaids...

>> Monday, October 26, 2009

At the start of my wedding I picked 3 bridesmaids (2 cousins & a friend) and my sister as my MOH. My sister has been super sweet and helpful. She goes with me to all my fittings, searched for shoes when I couldn't find any and offers to help with my D.I.Y. projects, I love her so much and couldn't ask for a better MOH. I made the cute cards below for everyone::

I have been a super nice bride, not a bridezilla in the least. But my bridesmaids have all been detached and one of my cousins even seem a little jealous. I kept giving them chances to come around but last week was it! With less than 6 months to go we need to order dresses. I asked everyone last week if they could meet on November13th to order dresses, everyone had an excuse except my sister who could make it. I called my FH upset and asked for his advice and he knew everything that I have been going through with them and suggested that I just remove them from the wedding. He said I didn't need the dress which is so true! I called the girls and simply told them that I decided to only have my sister in the wedding.
Has anyone else gone through this? Was I wrong for “firing” them?

A few updates...we have almost booked a caterer, tasting in two weeks will determine our pick. I have ordered the supplies for the invites. I am also working on creating my own damask napkins. I also have some super cute damask ribbon to share with you guys, you wouldn't believe where I found it! Stay tuned...

oh how terrible! i was lucky enough to have fabulous girls, but if any of them had made me feel the way those girls made you feel, i would have probably had to do the same. its your big day and you should be surrounded by people who make you feel happy and special. sisters are always the best friends anyway - mine was my MOH! :)

What was their reaction?

Hmmm...I've been almost close to this point (I have 7-so you can imagine the frustrations) but have refrained on it. I think you did what was best for you...no need to be more stressed out than you need to be on such a big day! Maybe, if they want to still be in it, they can do a reading or candle lighting of some sorts?

I'm sorry you had to go thru this. I am in no place to dictate whether you were right or wrong in firing them. Only you know for sure because of the history built up. I have been in your shoes, & it's a hurtful experience, but sometimes you have to let go of dead weight. Don't be too hard on yourself. If your girls really care, they will try to make it right with you & get their act together, & hopefully you will be receptive. But, I do wish you all the best. I came to the conclusion, I'd rather have one who really loves me to stand by me, than 5 who dont have their hearts in it. Why waste the time? I pray that everything works out for all who are involved. Chin up..Email me if you want the update on my own Ex MOH, lol. It might make you laugh.

Only you know the history/feel the frustration so none of us can tell us if you did the "right" thing...Hope this helps your stress!

Teems October 27, 2009 at 1:33 AM

Hey its Teems from PW (I was at the meet up!) I emoved two for the same reason. The showed absolutely no interest. It was pulling teeth to get simple information from them. so I let them go- It got so bad that i didn't even want them at the wedding anymore. One couldn't care less and pretty much told me to have a nice life when I kicked her out. And the other one begged to at least still be invited. But guess what? She didn't show. But my wedding was everything I wanted it to be anyway. You never know if that was a rational decision at the time but by the time your wedding comes around... you will know. ;-)

Wow I'm sorry you had to go through that with your BM's but in the end you made a good decision. Your MOH/sister has your back and will help you for your special day. I haven't gone through that with BM but I have gone through that with "friends" it's not fun and quite sad.

Wow. Suckage. You know I had MOH drama so I feel your pain. I have to say though, one dedicated soul is worth so much more than anything else. I say, wise choice.
