The Groomsmen's Attire

>> Wednesday, January 28, 2009

As you may know, our wedding colors are champagne (deep ivory), chocolate & lime green. Growing up I was always told that brown and black just does not match and if you wore them together the fashion police would definately pull you over and issue a fashion citation! So I had it in my head that the Groomsmen would definately be sporting a nice dark chocolate brown tux with the ivory under, like you see below.

Nice huh? Well guess what, my FH refuses to wear a brown tux. He said no way, no how! He doesn't much care for the color brown to begin with so I figured he wouldn't wear a brown tux. After lots of reserch I have found that other brides are having this same issue and have resorted to breaking the fashion rule of the past. These Groomsmen are wearing a nice black tux with the chocolate brown under. To be honest I like it better, it looks so good. And since the Bridesmaid's are wearing brown it will not be too much and look washed out. My FH actually likes the look as well.

So are any of you breaking any fashion rules for your wedding? What do you think of the black & Brown?

Hey, What's the Bright Idea?

>> Friday, January 23, 2009

Since Spring is just around the corner I thought I would throw some centerpiece ideas out there for anyone planning a Spring wedding. From what I have read from the experts in the wedding industry, BRIGHT is in! Brides are seeking to make a bold statement with bright, colorful flowers including, chrysanthemums, hot pink roses, daisies & dahlias to name a few. Beautiful produce like lemons, limes oranges and pears are also being incorporated for more color, not to mention the fragrance! These are some gorgeous centerpieces so enjoy & Happy Weekend!

Sweet, Sweet Music!

>> Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Music, oh how I LOVE music, working in the radio industry I hear all kinds of music and pretty much like it all. My DJ, Kevin Scott is a radio dj that I work with at the radio station and has graciously agreed to play my reception for FREE, as a present to me and my FH!!! He is also my friend so I want him at my ceremony as a guest so during the ceremony I need another musical alternative. When I attended the Bridal Show last week there was a classical guitarist and a cellist there playing beautiful music. The cellist asked if I wanted to make a request and she would play it, and of course I asked her to play Canon in D. It was so beautiful, I felt myself get emotional as I pictured our day, I knew right then and there that I had to have a classical duo at the wedding. My problem is that I can't decide between a cello and piano or a violin and piano, both sound beautiful and would run about $275 a duo for an hour. Because our venue has their own Baby Grand it really cut our price down. Below are samples of both, which would you use?

So Beautiful Piano & Cello.

A Historic Day!

Today is the inauguration day of the 44th President of the United States, Mr. Barack Obama! I cannot tell you how excited I am to see this day come! I have been behind this man since the beginning, not because of the color of his skin but because I really believe in him. And he has brought me to tears so many times because he gives me hope, hope to believe in change, hope to believe that we can all become one & hope that this country can come together. I know that my blog is all about weddings but today I must post about this. No matter how you voted, we must all come together and support our President and help rebuild this country to what it should be.

The Guestbook

I went to my first bridal show of the season and had a BLAST! I won a $300 gift certificate to an awesome videographer, WOW! The place hosting the bridal show had a seperate room that was set-up for a wedding, and the guestbook table was just a book on the table that we had to sign. Which brings me to my question today, do you have any idea of what you will do for your guestsbook/wish table/etc.?

My favorite guest wish table is the Martha Stewart set-up with the vase and the colored cards, I think it's gorgeous to look at and is easy for guests to get to. I want something that will not hold the guests up and something that can be done more than one at a time. So I purchased a gorgeous vase from a discount store (I got a $50 vase for $16.99) and I am now on the prowl for nice inexpensive giftcard size paper with envelopes. Another idea that Martha has is to have a wish from you (the couple) to your guests (see pic #3). How sweet would it be just to offer a thank-you to your guests or to say something nice in return (Love this idea!). Below are just a few ideas that I love.
