We Have Finally Picked a Photographer!!!!

>> Wednesday, March 25, 2009

After interviewing three different photographers, we have finally made a decision. It truly was a very hard decision because we really liked the work of all three. The deciding factor came down to how comfortable we were with the phtotographer himself. The first one that we met with was both very personable and very talented. He seemed to really LOVE what he does and has so much pride in his work. So I introduce you to Sam Dean Photography, Sam is an excellent photographer and I have featured his work on this blog plenty of times because I love what he does. Sam is also a photojournalist for our local newpaper, Roanoke Times. He is a member of the WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association), and have entered contests and placed with his gorgeous photogrpahy. So thanks Sam for everything, you have been nothing but patient and understanding during our decision process.

This is what we will be getting::

  • Full day of shooting (around eight to ten hours
  • All digital negatives color corrected and toned on DVDs in Color and Black & White (Two copies included)
  • 60 custom cropped and toned digital images set to your favorite music on a DVD (two copies included)
  • 8-12 posed family portraits (not including photos of bride and groom

:::Program Ideas:::

>> Monday, March 23, 2009

I have blogged about Gourmet Invitations before when I was trying to find ideas about our table numbers. This site is full of gorgeous wedding items from coasters to programs. I want something pretty and classy for our wedding, and I'm leaning toward the program that is folded with a ribbon tie (like the one below). Here are a few ideas for you other brides to think about or come up with something that is uniquely yours.

Most wedding programs will consist of names of the bride & groom, dates, timeline & bridal party information. I think I will go with something a little more detailed, like including a nice poem, special thanks to vendors and special thanks to our guests. What will you include in your programs? Will you keep it simple or have something a little more elaborate.

A Very Busy Weekend!!

>> Monday, March 16, 2009

Since it was so COLD and RAINY this weekend I decided that it was time to get some of my DIY projects done. I knew that when we got engaged that I wanted to send out save-the-dates (STD's) because I have a few out of town guests. Having something unique and eye catching was also at the top of my list, so I knew that when I saw Cyd's Bookmark-the-Dates that they were definitely something that I had to make (Thanks for the inspirations Cyd!). These little things were very time consuming but the end product was well worth my labor of love. I will also be including an informational car with our website information so that guests can keep up with wedding plans. So here they are, for full instructions be sure to check out Cyd's blog:

Next I made our card box. It turned out BEAUTIFUL! I purchased the hat boxes from a local chocolate shop, they were a little pricey but it didn't matter because I knew that they were exactly what I was looking for. I cut a whole in the two boxes and hot glued them together and added the ribbon detail along with some swarovski crystals to give it a little bling. I printed the "cards" paper on Pearl Stardream Paper and rounded the edges and slit lines in the paper for the ribbon to pass through.

And last but not least I made the letter for the cake table. I painted them with regular craft pain the glued peridot swarovski crystals around the edges to add a little femininity to them.
