Hair Ideas...

I hate to even bring this up because I'm mad at myself for not listening to my fiance. In June I decided to chop my hair off. My fiance kept saying he liked my long hair but I would look good with whatever I chose to do (I think he knew what he was planning in July). Well I chopped it and got the Rihanna a-symetrical bob and in July he proposed, I immediately thought oh my goodness my hair, LOL! I've always wanted my hair long on my wedding day because I want the whole beautiful updo. My hair grows super, super slow, since July it has only grown about 3 inches, and the winter weather is not good on my hair at all. I'm african-american and I choose to relax my hair every 6 weeks to keep my hair straight and I flat-iron my hair everyday. Between the weather, chemicals & heat my hair breaks and sheds but to keep my hair manageable I have to have these things.

I decided that I would grow my hair for the next 15 months and when it's time for my wedding I will add some extentions to get the look I really want. Keep in mind I want to wear a Birdcage Veil so I want a classic updo.

Here are a few inspiration pics:

Which do you guys like? Or would you suggest I work with my own hair?

  1. Honestly, any of the looks will be beautiful. And don't fret about your hair :)

  2. I like Rihanna's hair (the last photo)! I'm sure your hair will turn out beautiful!

p.s. I just chopped my hair off (about 5 or 6 inches). I was growing it for the wedding, of course, but it looked so horrible and unhealthy, that it needed to go! I figured I could always put some kind of extensions in if it's too short in June. Don't worry :)

  3. I love all of those, but I agree with Carly that Rihanna's is especially great! I think your idea of working on growing it out and supplementing with extensions will work great. Most updos actually don't require super long hair...My hair stylist actually encourages brides not to overgrow their hair so I think you should be in good shape!

  4. A big cage veil makes a big statement by itself, so I would have to say number 1. I think a pretty hair barrett in the back, topped off with similar earrings will complete the look! Hope this helps. Good luck growing out your hair!

  7. Those styles are beautiful... i would love to see you with some of those do's... before deciding which one to work with though... are you going with a veil? Would that change the look?

  8. AmyJean:
I plan on wearing a birdcage veil, but if that doesn't look good on me I am not wearing a veil.

  9. I love Tia and Thandi's! I am partial to Thandi's cause I love that throw together look but it maybe a day where you want to look the most polished.
