The Groomsmen's Attire

As you may know, our wedding colors are champagne (deep ivory), chocolate & lime green. Growing up I was always told that brown and black just does not match and if you wore them together the fashion police would definately pull you over and issue a fashion citation! So I had it in my head that the Groomsmen would definately be sporting a nice dark chocolate brown tux with the ivory under, like you see below.

Nice huh? Well guess what, my FH refuses to wear a brown tux. He said no way, no how! He doesn't much care for the color brown to begin with so I figured he wouldn't wear a brown tux. After lots of reserch I have found that other brides are having this same issue and have resorted to breaking the fashion rule of the past. These Groomsmen are wearing a nice black tux with the chocolate brown under. To be honest I like it better, it looks so good. And since the Bridesmaid's are wearing brown it will not be too much and look washed out. My FH actually likes the look as well.

So are any of you breaking any fashion rules for your wedding? What do you think of the black & Brown?

  2. I think the black tux and brown vest looks fine and like you said the BM dresses will bring more brown in.

  3. I went to a wedding that had chocolate brown and pink as their colors and the guys all wore black tux with chocolate brown vests/cumber buns and it looked awesome! I had the same mindset- brown and black don't go but I quickly changed my mind after seeing that wedding!

  4. i love the 2nd pic with the guy's hand on his leg and also the very last pic. have the guys wear something like the last one and they'll look fab and you'll be able to toss 'brown/black don't mix' out the window!

  5. I think the black and chocolate work together, especially since the chocolate is the color you are trying to highlight - it will pop against the nutreal black.

  6. You aren't alone. My FH refused to wear a brown tux. So we are doing the same thing as you. Groomsmen and FH will be wearing black tuxes with brown vest and my bridesmaids will be in chocolate brown dresses. Our colors are chocolate brown, white and slate blue.Best of luck planning!

  7. My fiancé had a similar reaction when I posed chocolate as an alternative to our original plan for navy before we settled on the charcoal. "Ew. No. Not a chance. Too 70s" was kind of how it went and we moved on. I think the black with brown will look great!
