Happy Friday Ya'll!! My FH and I were discussing the vows last night and we came to the conclusion that neither of us want to write our own vows. I am too much of a nervous wreck in from of a lot of people as is so I was thrilled when he said we can stick to the traditional vows. I had to take public speaking in college and dropped the class twice because I could not get up there and do a speech without my voice shaking, my hands shaking and me sweating the biggest bullets that you've ever seen. I think that if we stick with traditional vows that I have to repeat I think I might be able to keep myself together (keep it short and sweet). So how many of you are writing your own vows and how many are sticking with the traditional vows?
Definitely sticking to traditional vows! I am the same way - TERRIFIED to speak in front of large groups. The only time I felt comfortable and gave a great speech without my voice cracking and me visibly shaking was after taking 3 shots of vodka at my cousins wedding! haha! Don't think I want to take shots prior to walking down the aisle just for the sake of vows!
ReplyDeleteI CAN'T speak infront of people! EEK!!! I've not discussed this with my boyfriend, so he doesn't run the other way!!, but I think AT the wedding, just traditional vows, but before, I would like to do our vows...just the two of us!

ReplyDeleteWe are doing traditonal.. I can not get tell him how much I care about him in front of everyone. I know that everyones know. But I really just couldn't do it. Saying the vows in the traditional way is going to be hard enough. lol

ReplyDeleteWe want to write our own, but I think to strike a balance we're going to write them together in advance so they can be somewhat rehearsed but still personal and something we did together. I'm not sure I could go the route of surprising each other with personal vows on the day of, I'd die!

ReplyDeleteWe are probably sticking to traditional vows. I am shy and don't enjoy public speaking. I would probably be okay if I had a cheat sheet or something to read (rather than needing to memorize it!)

We think the traditional ones are so great that we wanted to stick with them, but we're doing our own too!
