Finally Found Some:: Damask Ribbon!

>> Monday, November 2, 2009

A.C. Moore has some new and beautiful Damask ribbon in an assortment of colors for $3.99 per roll. Since I am only using a few touches of damask here and there in my wedding I thought that the ribbon would be great wrapped around the cylinder vases I will be using for my centerpieces and for the pompanders my flower girls will be using. If you use a 40% off coupon that would be even better. Hope this info helps you guys

I purchased the brown and green of course because those are my primary colors:)

The Moss Letters

>> Wednesday, July 29, 2009

The moss monogram letters are definitely a new trend with today's weddings. I think it makes a statement and adds an elegant touch to any wedding. Although I really like the moss, I think I might go a step further and attempt to make my letters using artificial carnations or roses. I can't wait to start on this project, I will post pics as soon as I finish. If you would like to make your own letters here are some GREAT instructions from Mrs. Lemonade of Weddingbee.
Material::
2 large foam sheets (green would be best, I ended up with white and I had to use a lot more moss to make sure no white showed through)
1 hot glue gun with glue sticks
Elmer’s glue
Floral pins (the u shaped ones)
Mono filament (fishing wire, it really doesn’t matter what ‘size’)
2 Heavy poster boards
Pencil, sharpie, scissors, serrated knife
Lots of moss (I used Super Moss from Hobby Lobby [which I believe is sold at craft stores everywhere] since it was 50% off; because so much is needed for complete coverage I would recommend buying in bulk online)
PC with word processor (unless you want to freehand your letters…)
Access to a large scale copy machine
Ribbon to coordinate your wedding palette

I will follow the above instructions to create my letters to look more like the ones below, I plan on using artificial carnations.

A Very Busy Weekend!!

>> Monday, March 16, 2009

Since it was so COLD and RAINY this weekend I decided that it was time to get some of my DIY projects done. I knew that when we got engaged that I wanted to send out save-the-dates (STD's) because I have a few out of town guests. Having something unique and eye catching was also at the top of my list, so I knew that when I saw Cyd's Bookmark-the-Dates that they were definitely something that I had to make (Thanks for the inspirations Cyd!). These little things were very time consuming but the end product was well worth my labor of love. I will also be including an informational car with our website information so that guests can keep up with wedding plans. So here they are, for full instructions be sure to check out Cyd's blog:

Next I made our card box. It turned out BEAUTIFUL! I purchased the hat boxes from a local chocolate shop, they were a little pricey but it didn't matter because I knew that they were exactly what I was looking for. I cut a whole in the two boxes and hot glued them together and added the ribbon detail along with some swarovski crystals to give it a little bling. I printed the "cards" paper on Pearl Stardream Paper and rounded the edges and slit lines in the paper for the ribbon to pass through.

And last but not least I made the letter for the cake table. I painted them with regular craft pain the glued peridot swarovski crystals around the edges to add a little femininity to them.
