Will You Write Them?

>> Friday, February 27, 2009

Happy Friday Ya'll!! My FH and I were discussing the vows last night and we came to the conclusion that neither of us want to write our own vows. I am too much of a nervous wreck in from of a lot of people as is so I was thrilled when he said we can stick to the traditional vows. I had to take public speaking in college and dropped the class twice because I could not get up there and do a speech without my voice shaking, my hands shaking and me sweating the biggest bullets that you've ever seen. I think that if we stick with traditional vows that I have to repeat I think I might be able to keep myself together (keep it short and sweet). So how many of you are writing your own vows and how many are sticking with the traditional vows?

I Finally Found My Shoes!!!!

>> Tuesday, February 24, 2009

WoooHooo!! After a two week search high and low I finally found my shoes. My dress is ivory with gold threading and I wanted to play on the gold so I found the custest Carlos Santana Shoes at Macy's. I have flat feet and because of that my feet are wide and I was having such a hard time finding something that were comfy on my feet. I love these shoes they are super sexy, comfy and I can surely rock them again with a cute dress for date night or dress up a cute pair of jeans.

The Bridal Party Fashion

>> Monday, February 23, 2009

My bridal party consists of my sister as my Matron of Honor, two of my cousins and my bf from high school as my bridesmaids. Dresses have been a little stressful for my sister because she is plus size and is very chesty oh and she mentioned the fact that she hates her arms:(. Two out of three of my bridesmaids are also chesty but not as big as my sisters "puppies" as she calls them. So my sister came up with a plan, that she would wear a dress with straps and the maids can wear strapless. I thought that it was a great idea, so that she can feel comfortable and beautiful. I also decided that as a gift I will buy all of them an ivory pashmina to have. Below I have matched up some beautiful dresses for my party, just some ideas I'm going to show my sister. Are any of your bridesmaids freaking out about their dresses?

Table Numbers

>> Thursday, February 19, 2009

When it comes to table numbers I have been having some trouble making a decision. There are so many cool and unique ideas out there. I do find myself gravitating toward the traditional table numbers, which just goes so well with our classic theme. My FH does love Star Wars and I thought about incorporating different names from the movies as our table numbers. My issue with that is how will I do that and keep it classy? I really want to incorporate things that he likes into the wedding as well, but still keep with our "classic elegance" theme. I found some great ideas online and thought that maybe I can use names like "Darth Vader" with a number but use the same fonts what we are using throughout our wedding. What do you think? What does your table numbers look like? Will you be sticking with tradition or going with something that is sentimental to you and your FH?

D.I.Y:: Bouquet Favor Boxes

>> Tuesday, February 17, 2009

One of my favorite blogs, Once Wed always has some of the cutest DIY projects. I couldn't pass up sharing these little cuties with you. They were made just for Once Wed by Livy over at A Field Journal, another great blog with fun vintage ideas and much more ( I will be adding this to my favorites). (All pictures courtesy of Livy from A Field Journal)

Materials
{1} Card stock box cut-out. Download the template here and follow the instructions on the template sheet.
{2} Assortment of paper flowers with wired stems in complementary colors, a range of sizes works best, though all should be towards the small end of the spectrum. I found most of the ones used at my local craft store for $1-2 a bunch.
{3} Pen
{4} Skeleton leaves, available at craft stores, in the scrapbooking/paper crafting section
{5} Pin
{6} Strip of plain white paper, several inches wide
{7} Bone folder
{8} Scissors
{9} Length of 3/8" wired ribbon
{10} Glue stick
{11} Decorative edge punch

Instructions
{1} Using a bone folder and ruler score and fold box cut-out (use the printed template as a reference)
{2} Glue tabs to sides starting with the bottom of the box.
{3} If necessary use the bone folder to apply pressure to tabs as the glue adheres and dries. {4} Gather a small bunch of paper flowers, forming them into a dome-like arrangement. Secure with a small piece of wire (you can trim a piece from one of the stems).
{5} Trim stems to desired length - remember they'll be inserted into the box, so they should be relatively short depending on what you want to put inside the box. Using wired ribbon, wrap stems to completely conceal them.
{6} Fasten ribbon with pin.
{7} Punch along the edges of the strip of plain white paper, and write desired message or name of recipient down the center.
{8} Fold top flaps of box as shown.
{9} Insert bouquet into opening in box, and affix the white paper banner using a glue stick.

Cute & Unique Placecard Holders

>> Wednesday, February 11, 2009

When it came to placecards, I had no idea of what I was going to do. I wanted to have a unique set-up something that went with our weddings but has also not been seen over and over. I searched and searched and finally came across these cuties on Kate Aspen. They are pieces of dry bamboo, with a slit cut in to hold the cards. I LOVE them, so very much. Because my FH is Thai, we wanted to incorporate a small part of his Thai background into our wedding. We will be adding touches of bamboo both dry and fresh to our floral arrangements. And get this it goes with the Champagne, Chocolate and Green very well because the dry bamboo is champagne in color and of course the fresh bamboo is green, sweet! My MIL has tons of land here in the country and grows bamboo all over so I will not have to buy any and I have begun the drying out process so that I can make my own placecard holders. They can serve as a favor to our guests as well because they can take them home and put a picture in the holder. How cute is that! This is also very eco-friendly! The only issue with bamboo is that it splits when you cut it so you have to be very careful while cutting it. This weekend I am doing a couple of trial cuts to see how they come out. I will take pics if they come out ok.

Cake Inspirations

>> Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Planning this wedding so far has taken so much time and hard work. Surprisingly my fiance and I have been agreeing on decor, flowers, lighting, etc. Well last week the cake came into play because we have our first interview with a baker on March 7th. I showed him exactly what I wanted: clean, simple & elegant. Guess what? He hated them, hated all of them. To say the least I got so angry but held it all inside and kept a straight face, I didn't say a word because I figured it would cause an unnecessary argument so I smiled and said we can look through some magazines to find something the both of us can agree on. We have yet to do that but we will eventually get to it before our meeting. Did you guys have any battles to fight with your FH? I know this is just more of his wedding as it is mine but honestly, I really want to pick out the cake. I told him to just let me pick the design and he can get whatever flavor inside that he wants, nope he doesn't want that. Errrrr!!!! Here are the gorgeous cakes that I so love and he loathes.
