Fresh Face

>> Wednesday, June 24, 2009

I love to dress up and play "Barbie" especially when it comes to make-up I don't leave home without "putting my face on". I haven't decided if I will apply my own make-up on wedding day or if I will hire someone else. I know what I like and feel good about how I apply my make-up and make it look natural and pretty. I've seen horror pictures of bad make-up and heard horror stories so that will probably be something that I decide later one.

I use Bare Minerals and they work well on my skin and blends like you wouldn't believe, if you haven't tried it yet, give it a test drive! Trying to decide what look I want to go for on wedding day has been somewhat of a challenge but I know I love the smokey dramatic eye as I mentioned here, I think it adds so much to your final look. But my wedding theme is somewhat vintage with my birdcage veil and lace on my dress I'm beginning to think that a more neutral look may work better. I know for certain that I will be getting some eye weave for the day and wear some fake lashes because mine are so curly you can barely see the length, even with ten layers of mascara on them. Have any of you tried fakies? If so where did you get them and whats your secret to applying them?

Here are some of my inspiration:

very pretty! i'm contemplating whether or not to do my own makeup too. i plan on going to a makeup counter at a dept store around here and see what they recommend for the big day. then we'll see if i can recreate the magic on my own! if not, professional make-up artist, here i come!

Go to a MAC counter and have them apply lashes and do a make-up application at least once before the big day so you know what falsies feel like and can get some ideas. If you go to a MAC counter in a department store (not a MAC store) especially during a weekday, you can get personal attention from a make up artist and most of their artists are awesome. I did it for bridal pics as a way to see how I wanted things for the big day. Good luck!

I am loving the first picture! Never tried fake lashes, thankfully I don't need them. :)

my only tip is to make sure and cut them or get individual fake lashes, which in my opinion look a lot more natural and work better and if you want a winged look to your eyes you can concentrate them on the outside corners!

I love those looks. I contemplated doing my own and would have, but was then given a make up artist as a gift. I say, if you know what you want and practiced it and know you can do it yourself (especially if you're going for something natural), then save the money. For me, it was nice to have the artist because I DON'T wear make-up regularly so I was taking a gamble without one, but if I've seen some pictures of brides who did their own and it was just as beautiful as if an artist did it. Whatever you decide will be great!

I love all the inspiration pics, & I agree with krista. The individual lashes seem to look more natural, IMO. Good luck....I 'll bet you can pull off doing your own makeup beautifully.

Love the 1st image - I wore fake lashes for my wedding. They were from M.A.C. and my makeup artist applied them. All I know is you're supposed to completely finish your makeup and then put them on as close to your lash line as possible!

I wore Ardell lashes on my wedding day and they looked great. Sally's & Ulta sell them at a great price. I used Duo clear lash glue as well. Practice makes perfect when it comes to applying them--I hold them with tweezers and slowly place them on as close to the lash line as possible.
