Calligraphy...

>> Monday, July 27, 2009

I love the idea of having a calligrapher hand write all 150 of my invitations, but times that by $2 per invite and that idea kinda flew out the window. I think I'd rather put that money toward more food or drinks. Then I forgot about one of our sales reps at work who has the best handwriting I have ever seen. I can tell which orders are hers when they come across my desk because of her beautiful writing. She writes in a perfectly straight line without a rule, and she can make it as fancy as I want! Her name is Patti and she ROCKS!! She agreed to write all of my invites as a gift to me (but I am secretly buying her a gift, so I hope she doesn't read my blog). A few weeks ago I asked her to address a couple of Thank You cards for our photographer from the e-pics and the nice guy who let us take pics on his property. Patti did a great job and I cannot wait to see what she will do with my invites! Will you print, hand write or hire a calligrapher to do your invites?

P.S. I had a picture but I cannot find it anywhere which makes me ANGRY. Here are a few inspiration shots from Pen & Ink.

Just as the other comments state, your coworker has given you a really nice gift. I think that it's wonderful that people are taking the time to write out addresses on invites. It's a great personal touch.

There is nothing better than being able to use a personal contact for something that could end up being so expensive (ex. family friend is a hairdresser). Now if only I could find someone with pretty handwriting too... =0)

That's a great gift. I think calligraphy adds something to any invitation/letter... even better if it doesn't break the bank.

My handwriting isn't perfect as you described but it is pretty decent so I decided to do it myself. I sent my invitations out last week.

That is a great gift.

I designed my own invitations on Adobe InDesign and had a BLAST!! I'm designing all of the stationary too... including programs (that I'm working on now)... and the thank you's that we will send out after the big day.

I just wrote everyone's address- I'm a fan of my handwriting... so it wasn't that bad.

Get some pictures up of your invites, girl!!

Handwriting sure gives a personal touch even if it is not done by a professional calligrapher.
How nice of your coworker. What a great gift :-)
